Vide was founded on a single conviction: that the city deserves footwear as sophisticated as its inhabitants. Every pair begins as a sketch in our New York atelier and ends as a wearable work of art.
We employ fewer than 30 artisans across our production facilities. This is not a limitation — it is a deliberate choice to ensure that every pair receives the attention it deserves.
Material Selection
We source exclusively from Horween Leather Company in Chicago and select Italian tanneries — the same suppliers trusted by the world's finest luxury houses.
Pattern & Last
Each silhouette is developed over 6–8 weeks on custom wooden lasts, refined through multiple prototypes until the fit achieves our exacting standard.
Hand Stitching
Our master cobblers apply over 200 individual stitches per pair using waxed linen thread, a technique unchanged since the brand's founding.
Finishing & QC
Every pair undergoes a 47-point quality inspection before receiving its individual serial number, hand-stamped on the insole.

Born from the Intersection
of Street and Atelier.
Vide was born in 2012 in a small atelier in Manhattan's Lower East Side, where founder James Aldren — a former footwear designer for a major European luxury house — set out to create something the market had never seen: a shoe that carried the DNA of high fashion but was built for the uncompromising demands of urban life.
The first collection of eight styles sold out within three weeks, entirely through word of mouth. Today, Vide remains deliberately small — we produce fewer than 5,000 pairs annually — because we believe that true luxury is inseparable from scarcity and intention.
Every Vide shoe is numbered. Every pair has a story. Every step is a statement.
